Witching Hour Has Arrived 💜✨

There are some projects that quietly wait their turn.

The yarn gets bought. The idea gets named. Everything is ready… and then it sits patiently while other pieces demand attention.

Witching Hour has been one of those projects.

Tonight, I finally started her.

Witching Hour is my newest Woven Witch cardigan, worked in a rich purple yarn threaded with tiny sparks of shimmer. I knew when I first saw the yarn that I wanted it to become something unapologetically witchy — deep purple, slightly dramatic and sparkling when the light catches it.

And so Witching Hour was born. 🌙

The first few rows are now on my hook, and already I'm delighted with how the yarn is working up. The texture gives the purple even more depth, while the little flashes of sparkle appear between the stitches like tiny points of light.

This first Witching Hour will be mine.

I'm using it to bring the design properly to life, work out all the details and see exactly how the finished cardigan feels and wears. After that, I plan to make more Witching Hour cardigans for the Woven Witch shop.

Unlike some of my one-off pieces, Witching Hour isn't intended to disappear after a single cardigan. As long as I can continue to source the yarn, I'd love this to become one of the designs that returns to Woven Witch — each one still crocheted entirely by hand, one stitch at a time.

For now, though, there are only a handful of rows.

A very small beginning to what will eventually become an entire shimmering purple cardigan.

And I rather like that.

Every piece has to begin somewhere.
