Meet Maybel: A New Chapter for Woven Witch

Something rather magical has happened at Woven Witch. I'd like to introduce you to Maybel, the newest little member of my creative world.

Maybel is a beautiful Blythe-style doll with enormous blue eyes, a dark bob and a sweet little face. She has only just arrived, but she's already captured my heart.

Her arrival marks the beginning of something I've been dreaming about: Woven Witch Miniatures.

For some time, I've been thinking about exploring the world of miniature fashion. I've always loved creating handmade garments and accessories, and the idea of working on a much smaller scale has opened up a whole new world of possibilities.

With Maybel as my little model and inspiration, I hope to create miniature crochet cardigans, dresses, gothic clothing, bridal outfits and accessories, all with the same attention to detail and love of craftsmanship that goes into my full-sized Woven Witch creations.

But my ambitions don't stop at clothing.

I've recently invested in a 3D printer and a new laptop, which will allow me to begin learning about 3D modelling and printing. Eventually, I'd love to design miniature furniture, decorative accessories and little settings where Maybel's world can come to life.

I've also discovered the wonderful art of stop-motion animation. Watching dolls seemingly come alive through movement and storytelling has been fascinating, and it's inspired another idea: The Maybel Chronicles.

One day, I hope to create little films featuring Maybel, her adventures and perhaps even some appearances from Cherry, my faithful Woven Witch mannequin.

Of course, I have an enormous amount to learn.

I've never done 3D modelling or stop-motion animation before, and creating miniature clothing will bring its own challenges. There will undoubtedly be mistakes, experiments, frustrations and plenty of trial and error along the way.

This isn't something that's going to happen overnight.

I'm not announcing a finished collection or promising that everything will be ready in a few weeks. I'm simply opening the door to a new creative adventure.

I want to take my time, learn the techniques properly and enjoy discovering what I'm capable of creating. Some ideas might work beautifully, while others might need several attempts before I get them right.

That's all part of the journey.

For now, Maybel is settling into her new home. She already has some beautiful Victorian gothic dresses on their way, and I have crochet threads waiting for my first miniature garment experiments.

I'm looking forward to sharing photographs, works in progress, new skills and perhaps eventually some little films as this new chapter unfolds.

Woven Witch began with a love of crochet, autumn colours and handmade fashion. Those things will always remain at its heart.

But creativity has a wonderful way of leading us down unexpected paths.

And this particular path begins with a little doll called Maybel.

Welcome to Woven Witch, Maybel.

Let the miniature magic begin.

With love,

Woven Witch 💜
