The WildWood Collection Is Now in the Making

There is something rather wonderful about watching an idea slowly become real.

When I first wrote about the WildWood Collection, the five cardigans existed mostly in my imagination. I had chosen their names, pictured their colours and begun to imagine what they might look like hanging together as a finished collection.

Now the yarn for all five is here.

Foxglove. Dryad. Bluebell. Heatherbell. Clear Sky.

Five different colourways, each with its own character, but all belonging to the same little woodland family.

And the making has begun.

At the moment, Foxglove is on my crochet hook. The body is complete, the first sleeve is finished and I am working my way through the second. Once Foxglove is complete, another member of the WildWood family will take her place on my hook, and slowly the piles of yarn around my working corner will become finished Woven Witch cardigans.

There is a lot of crocheting ahead of me.

Every cardigan is being made individually by hand, stitch by stitch, so this isn't a collection that can appear overnight. I don't want to rush them simply to fill the shop. Part of Woven Witch is allowing handmade things to take the time they need.

But for the first time, I can look at all five sets of yarn sitting together and know that I have everything here to make the collection I imagined.

The forest is no longer just an idea.

It is in production.

Over the coming weeks I'll be sharing glimpses of the cardigans as they emerge, until eventually all five can stand together for the first time.

And when they are ready, the Woven Witch WildWood Collection will officially launch.

For now, there is only one thing left for me to do.

Crochet.

A lot.
