When the Sun Finds the Sparkle ✨

Today was one of those little moments that reminded me why I love making things by hand.

Before heading out for my blood test, I sat in the back garden for a while enjoying the summer sunshine. I was wearing my purple crochet earrings and my crochet cross necklace, pieces I've seen countless times indoors while making and wearing them. But outside, something completely different happened.

The sunlight found the glitter.

Suddenly the purple thread was sparkling. Every tiny movement caught the light, making the earrings shimmer beside my face and the cross glow against my simple grey T-shirt. The photographs finally captured something that's difficult to show indoors: these pieces don't just have colour and texture — they come alive in the light.

There was something rather lovely about wearing them on an otherwise ordinary day. I wasn't dressed for a photoshoot or a special occasion. I was simply sitting in my garden before an appointment, wearing jewellery I'd crocheted myself.

And perhaps that's exactly where Woven Witch belongs.

Not only carefully arranged for photographs or saved for special occasions, but worn as part of everyday life. A little bit of crochet, a little bit of sparkle and a little bit of magic accompanying you wherever you're going.

The earrings moved and glittered as they caught the sun, while the cross became this wonderfully bright flash of purple against the grey. Seeing them that way made me appreciate the choice of glitter thread all over again. What can look quite dark and mysterious indoors transforms outside into something vivid and almost jewel-like.

Of course, the rest of my outfit wasn't entirely ordinary either.

There were purple bats involved. 🦇💜

Some things are simply inevitable when you're the woman behind Woven Witch.

Today wasn't really about creating anything new. It was about seeing something I'd already created differently — under a bright summer sun, sparkling exactly as I'd hoped it would when I first picked up the thread.

Handmade things have their own little surprises. Sometimes you just have to take them outside and let the sunlight find them.
